Booker Mobile App Updates: Smarter Shift Notifications, Priority Shifts, and Shift Preferences
Welcome to the official update log for the Booker – Shifts App, your go-to source for the latest features and improvements. These updates are designed to help healthcare professionals like you find and claim the right shifts, faster and easier than ever before —whether you're picking up extra hours or building a flexible schedule that fits your life.
And while we’re focused on making the app experience seamless for clinicians, these improvements also support our facility partners.

Always Be In the Loop With Smarter Shift Notifications
We know that timely updates make all the difference when it comes to claiming the best shifts. That’s why we've rolled out new, customizable shift notifications that help you stay informed—without overwhelming your inbox or lock screen.
Available Shift Updates
Stay on top of shifts that actually match your preferences. These notifications give you a quick summary of how many PRN shifts are available to you right now, based on the days, times, and facilities you've selected in your Shift Preferences.
With this feature, you can:
Set how often you want to be notified: daily or weekly
Choose your preferred method of receiving notifications: push notification, email, or SMS (coming soon)
Turn notifications on or off anytime
Last-Minute Shift Alerts
If you're open to picking up shifts on short notice, this one’s for you. You’ll now receive alerts for shifts starting within the next 72 hours—perfect for clinicians who are flexible and open to spontaneous opportunities, especially when they may come with added financial or other incentives. These are often labeled as Priority Shifts (more on that below!).
This update lets you:
Get real-time alerts for high-need shifts that match your eligibility and preferences
Pick up great opportunities and get started without the long wait
Turn alerts on or off and pick your notification frequency (daily or instantly)
Priority Shifts
Some shifts require extra visibility due to their urgency. Priority Shifts are now clearly labeled in the app to help you quickly spot and claim these high-need opportunities. These shifts appear with a “PRIORITY SHIFT” banner on the shift card in your PRN tab, on the shift details screen, and even on your timecard after the shift is complete.
Here's what you can do with this feature:
Easily identify which shifts are top-priority for facilities
Prioritize picking up shifts with the greatest impact and potential for repeat invites
Quickly figure out which shifts to take when you’re looking for immediate work
Priority shifts are often a great entry point for repeat invites or longer-term assignments. Plus, in some cases, Priority Shifts may also come with financial or other incentives, making them a great option if you’re available and ready to step in on short notice.
Make the App Work for You with Shift Preferences
No more sifting through shifts that don’t match your schedule. With the updated Shift Preferences, you can customize which shifts you see and get notified about.
You can now set:
Preferred Days of the week you're available
Preferred Times: Day, Evening, Night, or Other
Preferred Facilities: Star the ones where you want to work, hide the ones that aren’t the right fit
Once set, these preferences act as the default filters in your PRN tab and control which shifts trigger notifications. This means you'll only be notified about shifts that match your availability and interests.
Helping Facilities Connect with the Right Clinicians
Although our primary focus is improving the experience for healthcare professionals, these updates also help our healthcare facility partners in meaningful ways, including:
Filling priority shifts faster through improved visibility and responsiveness
Driving targeted engagement with smarter notifications for interested clinicians who are a match.
Improving clinician attraction and retention with custom preferences that show only relevant shifts.
